We have all seen footage of bodies, ruined cities and full gyms of women with children and their grandparents. Please keep helping and showing what values we stand for. “
Context:
- The painting is supposed to express that the war in Ukraine affects basically each of us, because the Czech Republic, Finland or the USA with Mickey Mouse are represented in the well-known characters from our childhood, who are depicted as stuffed animals. The point is that the little girl protects all these precious toys with her own life, which symbolizes that Ukraine is actually protecting us from the disaster.
- Krtek (The Mole) – is an animated character in a series of cartoons created by Czech animator Zdeněk Miler.
- Maya the Bee – is the main character in The Adventures of Maya the Bee, a German book written by Waldemar Bonsels and published in 1912.
- Obelix – is a cartoon character in the French comic book series Asterix
- Bolek and Lolek – are two Polish cartoon characters from the children’s animated comedy television series by the same name.
- Moomins – are the central characters in a series of books and a comic strip by Finnish illustrator Tove Jansson, originally published in Swedish by Schildts in Finland.
- Mickey Mouse – is an American animated cartoon character co-created in 1928 by Walt Disney.
