Description:

… I have lived all my life in the Kherson region, in the city of Tsyurupynsk – now it is Oleshky. I’ve been drawing my whole life. Apparently, I can say that I am a naive artist, or a self-taught artist, and the word “artist” seems too ambitious for me. I just love to draw, it calms me down.
When the war started, on the first day we made several attempts to leave, realized that it did not work out and waited. The feeling of what was happening was amazing. We sat until the beginning of April – more than a month in the occupation. This cannot be compared to anything. At first I was stunned, for a very long time. I didn’t even mention that you could draw. But I took the paints with me in my suitcase, and I had the paints with me. I was so unsure where we were going, how much, and how things would be… But I took the paint, that is, for me it is a necessity, like food.
If before the war I was looking for a way to express something personal, some kind of internal war and anxiety, now I can’t think of anything but this war. Finally, I found a way to say something about her.
The picture is a screenshot of the video from the drone. It is very similar to Kherson region – endless flat fields. I have not seen the video itself, only this screenshot, and it creates such a heavy impression and resonates with my feelings – this shot land…
I didn’t just take a photo from Facebook – millions have already seen it. So I add my voice to the common chorus of voices. It is no longer personal, but universal. It’s new for me to be so close to everyone
