“Aujourd’hui je pense très fort aux enfants de l’école Numéro 1 à Popasna.
En 2017 et en 2019, je me suis rendu dans cette petite ville à quelques kilomètres du front de la guerre qui oppose l’Ukraine et la république pro-russe de Lougansk. En m’inspirant de la situation et de ma rencontre avec les enfants, j’ai peint trois fresques dans une école qui avait été bombardée et connue des occupations successives. Je n’aurais jamais pensée que la dernière peinture « Keep in touch » soit autant d’actualité aujourd’hui.
Today my thoughts go out to the kids from the school number 1 in Popasna.
In 2017 and 2019, I went to this small town just a few miles from the war frontline between Ukraine and the pro-Russian republic in Lougansk. Inspired by the situation and my encounters with the children there, I painted three murals at the school that had been bombed during the successive occupations. I would have never thought that my last work, “Keep in touch,” would be so relevant today.”
